September Roll

Here’s a few frames from my September roll.

Turks & Caicos

I’m a bit behind with my photos… here’s some frames from my trip to Turks & Caicos this summer.

I cheated and started my roll before we left for Turks & Caicos. This is the pool in my old back yard (we moved after the trip). This little guy showed up several times the last month we were in the house.

This was the last picture I took in my old home theater. I spent a lot of time on/in this room and already miss it.

OK, here’s one from the beach in Turks & Caicos. The water was unbelievable.

Found this cute thing on my balcony.

Some kids were playing on the beach. I was too lazy to clean up the dust on this one. Can you blame me? Fine.

First sign of the states after a week.

Josh and I have this tradition where we get breakfast super early and then play Survival on Modern Warfare 3. It’s a great way to start the day.

Hope you enjoyed the photos. I’ll be posting more soon so check back!

Back Then (Acoustic)

Question from Jarek D.

Do you have any estimated release date for B Story’s first EP? I see you said that you’re finishing up the last track, but I know nothing from that side of the music. So I do not know how long that would take. Second, if the EP sells well, is there a chance of B Story going on tour?

Can’t say anything about the EP yet, but rest assured, sooner than later! I don’t want months of silence and I’m gathering that neither do you guys. And yes, we plan on playing lots of shows once we have more than one song that you all know ;)

Thanks for writing!

Back Then Music Video

For those who haven’t seen it yet, here’s B Story’s first music video and single, BACK THEN. More coming soon! Share it on Facebook & Twitter if you like it!

Question from Nick B.

I very greatly admire your work – your videos are really fun and very well made! I am an aspiring video/film director, and I just wanted to know – what advice would you give to someone who desperately wants to produce works as incredible as yours? I want to rise above the amateur level, to produce videos of a much better overall quality than I do currently, but I don’t know where to start or how to improve. I know it’s probably a broad question, but would you have any advice?

Thanks for writing, Nick. The best advice I could give would be to focus on storytelling and let the rest follow. Aesthetics are the icing, story is the cake. Make something with your friends and show it to friends of theirs to get objective reactions and feedback. As you experiment you will find ways you like to do things (including where to put lights, which focal lengths you like, etc.) but there is no right or wrong way, only your way. Great question, keep at it.

I was here and you were gone, now you are here and I am gone.

Thanks for stopping by my new blog. I’ve been posting here privately for several months now so have a look around. You’ve got a lot to catch up on!

How’s everyone liking the Back Then music video?

Almost There!

A couple days ago we put the final touches on Back Then’s music video. When I think about how much work has gone into this my head spins. Can’t wait to finally show you guys.

Just one more track to finish up and this EP is done!

Back Then Scout Trip

Here’s a few frames I never posted from our Back Then location scout trip to Nashville.

Here’s Lance trying to tell me he can fly. Does he think I’m stupid?

Matt & Bird. (Bird can whistle the Andy Griffith theme song and Matt can too.)

I go to the Loveless every time I’m in Nashville.
